SILICOLGEL Review- Finally a "cure" for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common, long-term condition of the digestive system. It causes a "significant impact on a person's day to day life and can have a deep psychological impact." (source)

The main symptoms are the pain, cramping, diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, flatulence, urgency, passing mucus from bowels. Not to mention the additional problems of IBS such as lethargy, nausea, general malaise, back pain, bladder dysfunction, painful intercourse.

Trust me it is a nasty condition to suffer from, I should know I was diagnosed in my teens, twenty-five plus years ago!

So far all I have been able to do is manage each symptom individually, I gave up long ago on a cure to ease all symptoms. That is until now!

Now I must point out here, this is NOT a sponsored post. I am not the kind of reviewer that would rate something as amazing if I did not strongly believe it to be. So many bloggers claim to "review" yet seem to recommend anything they are reviewing, not me.

Finally a "cure" for Irritable Bowel Syndrome !!

I have placed the word cure in inverted commas as it is not really a cure, it is a relief from the symptoms whilst using this. Very similar to my inhaler for Asthma, it does not cure my Asthma, it simply takes away the wheeze and makes me appear asthma free. If I stop using the inhaler or something aggravates asthma then it returns.

But, and this is a big one for me, NEVER before in 25 years have I found a medicine to do this and relieve the symptoms to such an extent that I feel IBS free.

The product is Silicolgel it is stocked in Holland and Barretts and also in Boots.

How does it work?

It works by covering the lining of the stomach and intestine. It binds toxins, irritants, cell residues and excess acidity and carries them safely out of your body. It acts as a magnet physically binding and rendering them harmless. In the process, it absorbs acidity and gases reducing bloating.

What is the dosage?

1 tablespoon (15mls) before meals three times a day. You get a medicine syringe in the box so it is easy to give yourself an accurate dose.

Can it be taken long term?

Yes, it is recommended to be used for 4 weeks followed by a break of 4 to 7 days. This provides and an opportunity to check that symptoms have settled which may indeed reduce the need to take Silicol Gel as frequent. Then continue for 4 weeks and repeat the break.

So all this sounds amazing, what is the negative I hear you ask?

For me, it is the price. At £8.29 for 200mls, this is only enough for four days usage! What I have done is take 10mls with each meal instead of 15 ml as this makes it more cost effective and gives you a weeks worth.

This may still sound costly but when you add up the separate costs of medicine to treat the symptoms, toilet roll, water to flush, the cost of not having a quality of life with the debilitating symptoms then it seems doable.

£1.18 daily (£8.29 divided by 7 days)
A cup of Costa coffee costs more.

I know I will continue to use this product so I grabbed a bargain in Holland and Barrett today as they have a buy one and get one half price offer.

For me, this medicine has really made a massive difference so that is why I can not recommend it enough.

Please let me know if you try it as I would love to know if it is as effective for everyone.

Love, laughter and gentle hugs

  1. Does this work with Diverticoilitis, I have a continue pain in the left side of my stomach

    1. Hi, (apologies I do not know your name) the company says it works on GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS as well as IBS. As you know divertic is inflammation of a diverticulum, especially in the colon, causing pain and disturbance of bowel function. So maybe by removing some toxins, bacteria and irritants it would ease it.
Here is the company email, I found them to be super helpful so many ask before buying.

Please get back to me and let me know. I had really great results with this and so love passing on the tip.
      Love and hugs Ness xx
