Theraspecs precision tinted glasses for migraine relief review

If you are new to my blog and simply landed on this review let me give you a brief introduction. I am a mother of five sons and a VTCT qualified complementary therapist Level 3 (Aromatherapy, advanced massage therapist, and advanced reflexology) I am also a lady that can no longer practice my profession due to chronic illness so I prefer to use my expertise to write about complementary and alternative therapies for chronic illness so that others may gain a better insight into the power of combining complementary therapy/natural methods with conventional medicine.

For the last 30 years, I have suffered from migraines. They seem to have become worse in severity since diagnosis of fibromyalgia so I was delighted to participate in the review of a product that claims to be precision tinted, thoughtfully designed eyewear that filter out the harmful light that triggers migraines, headaches, eyestrain, and other conditions.

In the past, I have taken advice from my optician and tried filtered and anti-glare lenses but they made little difference so I was cynical yet excited to try these glasses.

"I have been given this product as part of a product review through the chronic illness bloggers network. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and I was in no way influenced by the company."

I was asked by the chronic illness bloggers network to review Theraspecs

Clinical research has shown that the eyes and brain do not react to all wavelengths of light in the same way. Some wavelengths, found in everything from sunlight to incandescents, are more likely to activate the nerves in the eye and brain, causing pain and eyestrain in sensitive individuals. Furthermore, fluorescent lights pulse very rapidly, even when working properly. That rate is too fast to see consciously. However, the brain can still pick up that pulsing as rapid signals from the nerves of the eye. Some repeating patterns, such as visibly flickering lights or even stripes of certain widths, can trigger headaches, eyestrain, migraines, and exhaustion. The pulsing is most intense at certain wavelengths.
The tinting used in each and every pair of TheraSpecs filters these problematic wavelengths of light, reducing such problems as headaches, eyestrain, migraines, photophobia, and exhaustion.

First reactions:
My first reaction was shocked as they look just like designer sunglasses, I was expecting a more medical feel to them. Admittedly I would still wear them if they prevented a migraine but Oh wow to look THIS stylish is a massive bonus! The Stella TheraSpecs frames are a sturdy tortoise shell, rose lenses and come with a microfiber carrying bag. They have a soft curve to fit beautifully against your face.

How did I find them?

Initially, I felt a little odd, like a wannabe rockstar wearing shades inside but this emotion quickly diminished as they made the world seem less harsh. Looking at life through rose coloured glasses really did make me feel calmer.

Certain lighting is a nightmare for me as they can be too bright or harsh. This is so problematic as simply getting on with life on a migraine free day can place me in a triggering environment.

Many people have suggested dark sunglasses but they are too dark for indoors and interfere with simple activities. These glasses seem just the rights amount of tint to do the job well without looking odd wearing them indoors.

After wearing them for a while now I can honestly say I absolutely love them and can not recommend them enough. Migraines are reduced and cluster headaches are less frequent. It would be unrealistic to claim my migraines have gone completely, they have been an integral part of my life for so long I am just ecstatic to gain a noticeable reduction in frequency and severity. Lighting is only one trigger for me and this definitely works.

For me reducing the light intensity also reduces the stress and anxiety waiting for the next aura to arrive.

I can not praise Theraspecs enough.

Can I get TheraSpecs with prescription lenses?

Yes, they can create prescription TheraSpecs lenses for frames you provide. They can also create prescription lenses for some of their frame styles depending on the strength and complexity of the prescription. The company can work with almost all prescriptions including bi- and tri-focals, progressive lenses, and prisms. They also offer TheraSpecs with reader bifocals inserted.
There are many different styles to suit your personal preference, I opted for
