Painting Fibromyalgia Rainbows

I love when people notice how much colour I fill my world with. Painting my world with rainbows is a coping mechanism. Rainbows symbolise the truth that darkness and storms always end and the sun shines again. For so many sat in the darkness this fact can be difficult to believe.

Being dipped in the positivity and glitter pot is not something you can achieve overnight. If it was that easy to switch off mental health then the world would be a better place for many people.

I find it insulting when people say, "Just think positive" you can not just switch off darkness and turn the dimmer of light to full brightness. It takes practice, love, removal of excess baggage, confidence and focus, not to mention medication and often therapy.

When is the last time you've stopped to think about who's baggage you're carrying?
Do you carry a lot of your own excess baggage?
Do you absorb the negativity of others around you?
Are you living your own version of life, or is it one someone else handed to you?
Do you listen to your internal compass?

When was the last time you turn inwards for answers?

Maybe now is the best time for you to listen to your body, your emotions and start to paint your own Fibromyalgia Rainbows. Turn the grey in your life into a rainbow.

Here are some methods to adopt for happiness in 2017, do just one or try them all. It is your journey so you make the first steps:

1. Declutter your space; we fill our space in the world with so much clutter and possessions we do not need. As you unclutter your space you start to unclutter your life.

2. Have a people detox; Some people will never be your tribe. Happiness is found by cultivating your tribe. You can be civil, honest and open while accepting that some people will never deserve a seat at the table of your life.

3. Turn inwards daily for reflection; Try keeping an emotions diary. Observe the people around you that intensify or deflate your emotions. Those feelings show you what isn't serving you.

4. Surround yourself with people who ignite your soul not suffocate it.
5. Learn to love the sound of your feet walking away from what is not enriching for your happiness.

6. Identify self-sabotaging behaviour.

7. Each day smile at yourself in the mirror.

8. Learn to practice daily meditation.

9. Live your day in accordance with the four agreements.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz are: Be Impeccable with your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love. Don’t Take Anything Personally: Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering. Don’t Make Assumptions: Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life. Always Do Your Best: Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.
